EDITORIAL ADDRESS
The department of surgery of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Awka, Nigeria is pleased to publish this maiden edition of the Orient Journal of Surgical Sciences (OJSS).
The Journal covers all aspects of General Surgery, Surgical sub-specialties and related disciplines including Anaesthesia and Radiology.
The aims and objectives of the OJSS include the promotion of medical research in the various health institutions, publication of articles which would facilitate a better understanding of the disease process and consequently enable the provision of optimum quality health care delivery in our local hospitals and else where.
This issue is the first effort at achieving this mission. The contained articles have met the rigorous scrutiny of peer review and therefore would benefit both the Medical community and the wider society. The contributions in this foremost edition emanated from Ophthalmologists and General Surgeons. It is hoped that subsequent publications will feature high quality articles from the numerous other specialties of Surgery including Anaesthesia and Radiology.
The Editorial board appreciates everyone who made the OJSS a reality, notably all the Consultant Staff of Surgery Department of COOUTH in general, and the duo of Emeritus Prof. Frank C. Akpuaka/Dr. Amaechi C. Nwachukwu in particular for their financial support.
It's our earnest expectation that sooner than later, the OJSS shall be ranked among the most subscribed Surgical Journal from this region.
